When Steve left Gong in 1975 to pursue a solo career he widened his audience a great deal and over the next seven years with albums such as Fish Rising, "L", Motivation Radio, Green and Open he proved not only to be a critical success but also a commercial success, The last Steve Hillage album was the double album For To Next. After this album Steve changed direction and moved into the ambient and ambient dance field and his project System 7 which is still a huge success. In November 2006 however Steve re formed the Steve Hillage band and performed at the Gong Unconventional fan gathering in Holland. The set was captured for release on DVD. This DVD contains the performance and also interview footage with Steve filmed at the time of the performance. This performance was the first Steve Hillage band performance for over thirty years and was enthusiastically received by Steve's massive fan base when released as part of a limited edition package in 2008. The DVD features the songs, Hello Dawn and It's All Too Much. Reviews This DVD release brings the visual element to Hillage, along with an excellent interview with the great man, who is accompanied, as ever, by Miquette Giraudy. The interview is great, showing both Hillage's sense of humour and his strong opinions - and it's ideal for neophytes, as it covers a lot of his history, including how he came to be associated with Gong and Daevid Allen. The visuals and music go hand in hand: after rousing renditions of 'hello Dawn' and 'Its All Too Much' the spacey stuff kicks in on both a musical and visual level, making the whole package every bit as delicious as his previous DVD material...
...An absolute must for Hillage fans and prospective Hillage fans.

Rock Society Dec 2009/Jan 2010 Whilst it's fair to say that there are a more than a few admirers of Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy's post-techno outfit System 7 here there are also those that recall the post Gong solo material with equal admiration (and at least two who fall into both camps), and it's the latter camp who will be delighted with this live recording of early Steve Hillage material recorded live at the Howlett on bass and Basil Brooks on additional synths (Chris Taylor on drums completes the line-up() for a blistering, if all too brief, set which includes the George Harrison cover ' It's All Too Much' from the bands most successful album alongside early classics like 'Aftaglid', 'Solar Musick Suite' and 'The Salmon Song' - all of which send old SHB heads in the audience into raptures, with Hillage's guitar playing as fluid and head-spinning as ever.

Total Music Magazine The Steve Hillage fans were in for a real bliss in 2006 when Steve decided to play live with his band at the Gong Family Unconvention at the legendary Melkweg in Amsterdam first time in almost 30 years!...
...This Cd and DVD were originally released already in 2008 as a limited edition spindle, but it's really great that they are available again for the joy of all Steve Hillage fans. They both are very warmly recommended!
